  What do we know about Islam?     As I approach my ninth decade of life on this wonderful planet, I find immense joy in pursuing my passions. I enjoy good health and a clear mind, which allows me to engage in activities that I love the most. These activities include studying and writing about history, which I find fascinating. A reflection on the 25th anniversary of the infamous 9-11 attack

  25 th  9-11 anniversary versus the 2026 Midterm elections   On the eve of the infamous anniversary of 9/11, we honor and remember the innocent lives lost and condemn the subsequent suffering in lost lives, time and treasure caused by this brutal act.   Rather than asking where were you that day. Ask yourself what drove 19 young men from the Middle East to fly four airplanes into our buildings, resulting in the deaths of nearly 3,000 innocent people.    Ever since I translated a historic essay from a German history book, I’ve been fascinated by exploring the differences between the three major religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.   I don’t intend to reinvent the wheel, rewrite, rectify, amend, or claim anything that hasn’t been previously reported. Am I, or am I not a Christian?

In my nearly one-hundred-year life, I have come to realize that human existence encompasses both physical and spiritual aspects. While our physical needs can easily be met with money for food, clothing, and shelter, fulfilling our spiritual or emotional needs presents a far greater challenge. We all yearn for happiness, love, popularity, and respect. Achieving spiritual happiness demands discipline. For instance, what exactly is happiness? Where can one find it? Temptations abound, and well-meaning suggestions from friends and relatives only add to the confusion. I can only share my personal experience. After World War II, in a bombed-out building, a group of people gathered for a religious service. I was seven years old, on the verge of turning eight. The preacher wore a ceremonial outfit like those found in a Catholic church. He held a piece of printed paper depicting palm trees and a donkey.
